To Hercule Poirot

I have been reading Agatha Christie's murder mysteries for as long I have been reading fiction. They are just so much fun! The writer herself said that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's works are much better than hers, but I wouldn't say so. However famous Sherlock Holmes may be, for me Hercule Poirot has always been the man.

This little, portly Belgian detective with an egg-shaped head solves murders with brilliance and flair, and still Agatha Christie manages to make it sound true. This man prefers sitting quietly in an armchair and taxing his "little brain cells" to going around looking for clues. Throughout the story he would keep noticing little things and making meaningful connections inside his head. And right at the end, he would call a meeting (different books call this meeting by varied names as "sherry party", "coffee meeting", etc.) and reveal the plan of the murderer with amazing finesse and accuracy.

This is all for today, er, tonight. Hats off to Poirot and Christie!

Men at Work

Hello guys,

This is my first ever post on my blog. I have but a small anecdote to share.

Recently I was hanging out with my friends at a Delhi mall. When I went to the loo, the ladies toilet was closed with a sign in front of it, which said - "Men at Work".
